Job Description:

General Duties

  • Ensure you have enough supplies and equipment for the day by reviewing the work orders before starting your workday
  • Properly keeps Time Records in accordance with company policy
  • Pre-Call Customers and inform them on the estimated arrival time
  • Conduct a site survey, install the correct services according to work order, repair the issues for existing customers, review the work order with the customer and educate the customer on new or existing services
  • Clean site, conduct final account review and update customer accounts with detailed notes and photos.  Communicates progress of installations and service calls with management and office

Additional Duties

  • Pulling and routing CAT 6 cable and wire
  • Terminating phone jacks and dressing and terminating distribution frames
  • Patch Panels
  • Installing support structures (ladders, racks, j-hooks)
  • Installing and terminating end devices such as card/badge readers, motion detectors, door strikes, mag locks, request-to-exit buttons, cameras, intercoms ect.
  • Installation of low voltage wire
  • Installation and termination and/or programming of various Access Control manufacturers
  • Troubleshoot various systems/equipment/ manufactures
  • Uses sound judgment and calls product support when needed, properly completes RMA forms in accordance to company policy
  • Program access software
  • Cutting Loops
  • Final terminations of head-end equipment
  • Installation of computer networks such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the internet, intranets, and other data communications systems.
  • Install server hardward and software infrastructure
  • Set up user accounts and passwords and properly record data into the computer system and communicate necessary information with customers
  • Monitor network usage and security
  • Manage email, spam and virus protection
  • Ensure networks are running smoothly
  • Troubleshoot and restore systems after crashers
  • Retrieve forgotten passwords
  • Undertake routine preventative measures and implement, maintain and monitor network security
  • Ensure systems comply with industry standards
  • Keep internal networks running smoothly
  • Support administration of servers and server clusters
  • Manage system back up
  • Restore protocol
  • Document network problems
  • Support network and computing infrastructure
  • Install and maintain network services, equipment and various devices
  • Oversees software security
  • Designing, configuring, testing, implementing and maintaining telecommunications and LAN operational support activities, and supporting development, test and operational entities working in that environment for customers
  • Evaluates network performance using hardware and software diagnostic tools and shall participate in the installation and configuration of new networks and upgrading existing networks
  • Works with network service providers of both commercial, residential and governmental entities monitor and troubleshoot services
  • Responds to network outage and trouble incidents as needed
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and consultative skills
  • Other Duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma (or GED) required; college of technical/vocational school is a plus

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work over-time, on-call and travel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening and presentation skills
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Capable of using cordless drill and other hand tools
  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time, climb ad ladder, lift over 60lbs. at times, crawl into small spaces, work in all climates
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • All Technicians are required to hold the following documents within (30) Thirty Days of Hire: Digital Sky will cover the cost but employee is responsible for completion on his/her own time
    • TWIC Card
    • Osha 10-Hr Course Completion Certification
    • Electricians Helpers Permit
